Stamp Pen, Mayo Brothers Commemorative

This special pen celebrates a stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service in 1964 to honor the Mayo brothers. This honor was the result of planning and advocacy from stamp enthusiasts in Rochester, Minnesota, who contacted Eleanor Roosevelt for support. The issuance of the stamp was a focal point of the Mayo Centennial Year in 1964. The wooden box holding the pen is adorned with one of the actual 1964 stamps and the pen features sheets of stamps embedded into polished acrylic.
