Mayo Clinic military coin
Celebrate Mayo Clinic’s history of supporting the U.S. Armed Forces with this commemorative military coin.
The front of the coin depicts the largest bell of the Rochester Carillon against a blue background. Five stars represent the branches of the American military: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Air Force. Three stars represent military service status: active, reserve and retired. The Mayo Clinic logo features three shields representing patient care, education and research.
The back of the coin includes a quotation by William J. Mayo, M.D., at the carillon dedication on Sept. 16, 1928. Twenty-one stars encircle the quotation, representing our “salute” to all of America’s service members and their loved ones.
The coin is 1.75 inches in diameter, 1/8 inch in thickness, displayed in an acrylic case on a double-sided card featuring information about the coin's symbolism.
